I heard Robinhood is what people use - are there any better alternatives?

Robinhood is 0 commission fee. Charles Schwab is free too but the service is not that great anymore.  If you are in the US, use Robinhood it’s great.

Agreed with @EBITDAd, I find Robinhood really easy for beginners. Even gives some relevant news for different companies if you don't want to do too much site hopping for research. Charles Schwab is a bit more complicated but also free and probably better if you have a little more experience.
