How is the entertainment industry different?
What sets a job in the entertainment industry apart from other fields? How is it different? How is it similar?
The entertainment industry is definitely broad but encompasses any company that creates content or is involved in the content creation/performance world.
One difference from a lot of more common industries that college graduates tend to enter is that it usually requires an interest and background in media. A lot of applicants have experience in more artistic disciplines like creative design, production, cinematography, etc. but those are not always required.
Additionally, salary tends to be a bit less as an entry-level employee in entertainment, but this depends on the company and the experience of the applicant. Although no one ever wants to be paid less, there's a lot of added benefits to working in this industry like being around famous people, building a vast network with some very powerful people and working on very glamorous, exciting, and main-stream projects.
