Overview

Product Manager interviews can vary depending on the company you are applying for, however, there are certain types of questions you should be prepared to answer.

  1. Behavioral Questions - these are personal questions about your life, experiences, leadership qualities, etc.
  2. Product/Management Questions - these questions about a product and/or different management/problem-solving approaches. Some example Product Question from Product School are:
    • How would you prioritize resources when you have two important things to do but can't do them both?
    • How do you decide what and what not to build?
    • What has made "X" product successful?
    • How would you design "X" product?
    • How would you improve "X" product?
    • How would you launch "X" product?
  3. Case/Market Sizing Questions: These questions are similar to the Product/Management questions but focus on the broader business and the market in which the business sells their product. You will analyze a scenario and give your opinion on how to approach it. For example:
    • Sales have declined over the last year for "X" product. How would you fix this?
    • You notice advertising revenue has declined for "X" product, how would you fix this?
    • What are some ways you could attract new customers to "X" product?
  4. Analytical/Estimation Questions: These are open-ended, random questions intended to see how you think through and approach a problem in which you do not know the answer to. For these questions, the process you take to find the answer is far more important than the final result. For example:
    1. How many windows are in New York City?
    2. How many cups of coffee are sold in the United States every year?
